Weekly horoscopes: When unavailable men become available

Fiery Mars enters the zodiac sign of Libra on July 3rd. Mars is the planet of passion and desire in Astrology. It can be relentless in its pursuit of happiness and it won’t take no for an answer. And Mars – as everyone knows – is also the planet that men hail from. Libra is the zodiac sign of marriage, so Mars in Libra for the next six weeks (that’s July 3 through August 22) is good news for anyone who’s dating a man born under Aries, Taurus, Libra, or Scorpio because he will suddenly want to get very serious about settling down. Can you believe him? Absolutely! The skywriting is on the wall. Don’t worry if he’s been a commitment-phobe for years because that urge to pair up will be positively irresistible.

ARIES (March 21- April 19)

What happened to your love life?  That will be the burning question on Tuesday when your ruling planet Mars enters the zodiac sign of Libra.  For the past six months it’s been all about you – not in an egotistical way, but in a “I can take care of myself” way.  Your focus was on your body, your work, and what you needed to do to increase your earning power.  This would have played to all of your inner Xena warrior princess tendencies as you took on one obstacle after the next and prevailed!  However you may have noticed that you don’t have much of a social life nowadays.  In fact it’s been MIA for a long time.  Moreover comparing body fat percentages with your running buddy or strategizing for the next power pitch just isn’t going to do it for you anymore.  Thankfully Mars’s six week stay in Libra – the zodiac sign of love and marriage – will do a lot to counteract all that.  But you are going to have to make more of an effort to make yourself available.  Translation?  You need to spend less time burning the candle at both ends and more time being out and about.  And if you’re already in a relationship then start adding more date nights to your daily agenda.  You need to remember that you’re a woman, not a machine.

TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)

There are things that we tell ourselves to keep us down.  Nobody knows why we do it, we just do.  But is it really because we feel undeserving?  Is it because we fear success and the self-empowerment that comes with it?  Or is negative mental chatter simply a bad habit – like biting your nails or collecting half-used lip balm tubes at the bottom of your purse?  You will have the opportunity to decide for yourself this week as Mercury – the planet of the mind – forms an unusually illuminating aspect to Uranus and Venus.  Now don’t expect a parting of the clouds revelation or to encounter a burning bush during your early morning walk.  Mercury is very subtle so it will be more like an aha moment that takes place in mid conversation where you catch yourself saying you can’t do something or a friend may even point out that you’re being too hard on yourself.  Don’t pooh-pooh it or explain it away because you are being given the opportunity to examine your thinking and – more importantly- to do something constructive about it.  Mental energy needs direction just like emotional energy and physical energy.  If you can do things like swear off unhealthy relationships and avoid junk food, then you can do things like change your thinking so that it helps you rather than berates you.  It’s food for thought.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21)

Your home becomes your haven again this week.  This will come as a huge relief as you have felt under siege for months.  Whether it was hopping from rental to rental or housing a revolving roster of disenfranchised loved ones or friends, you have really been feeling the lack of roots, rest, and peace.  Thankfully this will all change on Tuesday when Mars – the everything’s-got-to-be-a-struggle planet – finally leaves that part of your solar chart that governs your domestic bliss.  The change in planetary disposition will allow you to fluff up the cushions of your comfort zone so that you can actually enjoy having a private life.  Moreover Mars – the planet of men – transiting through Libra – the zodiac sign of love and romance – ensures that you won’t be luxuriating alone.  If you’re not already seeing someone then you will soon will be.  You should also know that Mars in Libra creates an air trine involving Venus and Jupiter and air trines are always good for harmonizing people’s energies and coordinating efforts.  You can get twice as much done and for half the effort now.  You may also want to tap older people for advice and guidance.  They may not be familiar with what you do exactly, but chances are they’ve been down a similar road and that you will benefit enormously from the wealth of their experience.

CANCER (June 22-July 22)

Tuesday will not be a good day because that’s the day of the full moon.  You tend to get emotional during a full moon anyway, but the fact that this full moon will be occulting Pluto – the obsessive/compulsive planet – means that your darker and more needy side will rise to the surface.  It’s not quite Werewolf behavior, but it will be close.  And since you can’t be trusted you’ll want to padlock the refrigerator and hand your credit cards over to a parsimonious friend for safekeeping so that you won’t be tempted to do something that you’ll regret.  Thankfully the effect will soon pass and you could even be back to normal in time to enjoy your Fourth of July barbecue.  Meanwhile it will become clear that you need to have a sit-down talk with a relative about a certain responsibility that they’re not taking responsibility for. This could be an unruly child who’s been sent to you, a needy pet left in your care, or a strung-along boyfriend who’s crying on your shoulder.  Now you don’t mind stepping in temporarily, but it’s starting to look like you’ve been asked to play the role of surrogate parent and that’s not what you signed on for.  You need to have the talk that only you can have and to make sure that this person steps up to the plate.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

You need to shake the guilt trip.  It’s drawing too much energy and focus and it’s starting to have a detrimental effect.  You have a lot of pressing concerns on the docket – not the least of which is a major life decision that you will need to make on July 17th and July 18th.  You cannot afford to have feelings of regret for something that’s a done deal.  It’s undermining your confidence at a time when you need to be clear-headed and bold.  Thankfully Mercury in Leo will do a lot to brighten up the dark corners of your mind.  Mercury is the planet of communication in Astrology so you can expect to receive good news on Thursday or Friday. This will bring the approval or vote of confidence you’ve been looking for.  Mercury in Leo will also add to your charisma and personal magnetism so don’t be surprised if people who once criticized you do an about-face and start to champion you instead. You may be perplexed by this unexpected sea change. Why after challenging you every step of the way would they now become ardent supporters? Well, it’s hard to predict when the penny will drop and when people will finally see the light. Just be grateful that the penny is dropping and that you can now bank on their full support and cooperation.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

If you think that you can’t live without something, then guess what?  You can.  In fact it’s probably this very thing that needs to go.  You’re not usually the obsessive/compulsive type.  You tend to be more neurotic-lite, but the full moon occult Pluto on Tuesday will bring out all of your addictive tendencies which means that you will have no choice but to quit a habit or a fixation cold turkey if you ever hope to regain peace of mind and to restore your psychic equilibrium.  You’re not going to get what you crave no matter how hard you try, so be done with it.  The sooner you make this choice, the better off you will be.  Meanwhile there’s some business that you need to take care of before Mercury turns retrograde on July 14th.  You have between July 5th and July 10th to seal the deal or to finalize a purchase.  This would be the time to go over all the details with a fine-tooth comb and to dot all the i’s and cross all of the t’s.  If you’re going to sign, then the morning of July 10th would be ideal.  If you can’t get the other party to agree to your terms by this date then you would be well-advised to table discussions until after August 7th.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Mars, the planet of gumption and drive, will enter your zodiac sign on Tuesday.  This is bound to wreak havoc and you should know ahead of time that people won’t be too pleased.  Usually you’re polite and deferential.  You do things as a team and will often check in with a partner to see what he thinks before moving forward.  Unfortunately Mars doesn’t work that way.  Mars is single-minded, impatient, grabby, and wants to see immediate results.  These impulses may make you uncomfortable, but they’re probably what you need right now.  As a Libra you tend to wait on others a little too much and that has probably cost you a healthy lead or a pretty penny in recent months.  You may even be kicking yourself for failing to act in a timely manner when you knew that it was right.  Well, kick yourself no longer.  Mars will give you the will and the power to do what you need to do to get the job done.  It will also give you sharp elbows and heavy feet.  Undoubtedly you will step on a number of toes and put more than just a few noses out of joint, but if anyone can smooth over the ruffled feathers and make nice afterwards – it’s you.  Meanwhile you need to take as much ground as you can get between now and August 23rd.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

It will be nice to see that your concerns weren’t unfounded.  You are often accused of having a gloomy outlook, but people will see for themselves that you were right all along when the full moon occults Pluto on Tuesday.  This is when that house of cards situation that you’ve been warning them about collapses on itself.  It’s not pleasant, but it will give you much-needed validation at a time when you can use it.  It will also give you an opportunity to show off your particular genius for navigating dire straits.  Indeed your expert salvaging of the situation will do a lot to win over a doubtful boss or ambivalent client on Thursday or Friday.  You can look forward to getting more face time with this person as a result.  Meanwhile you should move forward with finalizing a negotiation or agreement that’s been in the works for weeks.  Many will say that you are acting prematurely (or even presumptively) but if there was ever a time to hold people’s feet to the fire than it would be now.  Venus just out of retrograde and forming a rare sextile to Mercury and Uranus creates a window of opportunity that opens on July 4th and closes on July 12th.  After that all bets will be off.  Be bold and audacious and you will surely pull off a major coup.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You deserve a break after what the Stars put you through.  Actually you deserve more than that, but it’s a good idea to take what you can get and not to push your luck.  On Tuesday you learn that you will be getting a reprieve.  Now whether this is just a temporary cosmic restraining order being served on a major pain-in-your-derriere or if it signals a true release from an undesirable situation won’t be clear until after July 19th.  However there is reason to be cautiously optimistic.   The upcoming trines in air signs on July 4th and 5th – and then again on July 14th and 15th – will change the timbre of the dialogue from a winner-takes-all rant to one where people are receptive to negotiation and compromise.  Air trines are Astrology’s version of cool summer breezes and they work to lower the temperature in the room and circulate the energy so that points of view open like windows and reason prevails.  Meanwhile you will have a unique opportunity to meet with an estranged loved one on the 7th or the 8th.  There have been a lot of angry exchanges between you two and it didn’t help that relatives took sides.  Thankfully this face-to-face meeting will go a long way towards helping you to up patch differences or at least fashion some kind of truce.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

It will be hard to see how loss could possibly lead to gain on the 3rd, but it’s best to trust that there’s a mysterious process at work when the Moon occults Pluto.  There’s no denying that you are being heavily taxed right now.  You may be digging deep into pocket to keep a venture afloat or you may be working 24/7 to keep a demanding boss happy or you may have to reschedule a vacation (yet again) so that you can take care of matters close to home.  Then again it could be all of the above!  But it’s important to remember the Pluto was named after the Roman god of wealth.  In fact we get our word “plutocracy” (which means the monied class) from the word “pluto”.  And like with any start-up company, you have to put out before you can expect to see a return on your investment.  And this is exactly what’s happening now.  Thankfully you have Mars – the planet of gumption and drive – passing over the most ambitious angle of your solar horoscope.  This means that you can expect to make more progress in the next six weeks than you have in the past six months.  Not only will you be able to capitalize on all the hard work that you’ve done, but you will have something valuable to show for it in mid August.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

It’s rare when your ideas click with the people around you.  Usually your ideas are too ahead of their time or you’re surrounded by people who are impenetrably slow on the uptake.  A sensational alignment of planets this week shows that you’re meeting just the right people at just the right time (and just the right headspace) who can help you to get what you want.  So go ahead and streamline those talking points, brush up on those pitches, and get your hair and nails done because you are going places. In fact much of what you want will be yours for the asking until July 14th. July 14th is like the clock striking midnight. That’s when Mercury turns retrograde and it will be all bets off until the end of August.  Meanwhile don’t be thrown off by the strange turn of events that transpire on Monday. The Full Moon caught in the crossfire between Uranus and Pluto shows a long association coming to an unexpected end. Actually it’s not so much unexpected as it is badly timed. Just remember that it’s badly timed for you and not for this person so be supportive of his decision to take his leave and to move on. He’s heading into uncharted territory so he can use all the understanding and encouragement that he can get.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

It took six months to make things right between you and a partner and you will soon see that it was worth it.  Loved ones and friends may shake their heads in disbelief over your decision but whose love life is it anyway?  It isn’t easy finding the right fit.  What you look for in an ideal mate would make all the self-help authors stand up and toss their books at you.  You can’t help but to be drawn to the emotionally challenged and the walking psychically wounded.  Why?  Are you just being masochistic?  Or are you possessed by some savior complex?  Actually you were born under Neptune, a planet named after the Roman god of oceans.  You have more water of life than you know what to do with.  You need people to draw from your well, not the other way around.  Your infinite patience, limitless compassion, and willingness to return time and time again may read like the standard definition for a woman who co-depends too much, but the fact is you need to be needed.  That’s what turns you on and gives your life purpose.  You like going down to the depths with your lover and mixing a little agony with your ecstasy while you’re at it.  The way we love is like our sexuality – uniquely individual and mysterious.  Don’t let others’ judgment of that relegate you to the shallows.
