Weekly horoscopes: Failure to launch

This week will feel like a low point when it comes to love, self-esteem and motivation. It’s just not happening — no matter what you do. The reason for this is Saturn. Saturn is the wet blanket planet of Astrology. When its influence is strong — like it will be on the 22nd, the 25th and the 28th — then you can feel like the slowest, dullest and thickest person on Earth. It’s important to remember during times like these that the planets don’t dictate events, but they will influence them — just like the weather. Since the atmospheric pressure isn’t conducive to you feeling chipper (how active would you be on a hot summer day with a 100 percent humidity?), then it makes perfect sense to not take things personally and to re-schedule any important dinner dates and high-power business meetings for after May 1. This is when you’ll be feeling like your old zippy self again. Read more

Weekly horoscopes: Go for it

You have one more chance to make a grab for the brass ring before the Sun changes zodiac signs on Friday, and this will be on Wednesday when the Sun forms a conjunction to Mars. This is a classic make-or-break planetary configuration. If you’re a hair’s breadth away from your goal, then Mars will give you that extra push you need to grasp the prize you seek. If you’ve overextended your reach (or maxed out your resources), then Wednesday will be when it all comes crashing down. But taking a spill doesn’t mean that you’re down for the count. Mars is no stranger to rough and tumble risks, and neither should you be. Pick yourself up and brush yourself off because you’ll have another go at that brass ring in late July and August when the Sun will be in Leo. Read more

Weekly horoscopes: Pull the plug

We can all get a tad obsessive from time to time. We fixate on something we can’t have or try to control someone we don’t own. It’s fine within reason, but sometimes this dark compulsion can take on a life of its own, and when it does it can only spell trouble. On Friday Pluto, the planet of obsession, will turn retrograde. Retrogrades bring reversals, and they can often be frustrating and even treacherous. However, retrogrades can also signal a lightening up of energies — a loosening of the hold that the planet has over you. If you feel like you are obsessing about something (or someone) that you can’t live without, then Friday is the day to pull the plug. Not only can you live without this black hole draining the energy out of your life, but you will be all the happier and healthier for it. Read more

Weekly horoscopes: How did I get here?

It isn’t always easy to tell if there’s a higher purpose at work in your life — especially when the Cosmos gets cacophonous like it has been these past three weeks. Thankfully, the Sun/Jupiter sextile on Monday will restore your faith and your confidence and help you regain your bearings. This is when you will get your first clear idea of where all of this craziness is heading. Maybe you finally learn the reasons for why people have been acting the way that that they’ve been acting, or you begin to see that there really is a method to the madness of recent developments. In any case, it will feel better to know that there actually is a reason for why developments are unfolding in the way that they are. Now that you know, you won’t have to worry so much that you made wrong turn back there somewhere. Keep on doing what you’re doing, and you’ll get to where you want to be on the 25th. Read more

Weekly horoscopes: Forbidden fruit

Forbidden fruit is always the problem when Mars and Pluto form a square in the sky (March 26). Dangling just beyond reach, you could find yourself lusting after your girlfriend’s husband, becoming obsessed with something that’s out of your price range or gunning for a position at the top of the totem pole that just isn’t doable now. Mars and Pluto don’t know when to quit when their energies get fired up like this, and they can bring a false sense of invulnerability — like the way you feel when the endorphins are pumping at the gym. This could be disastrous as the reality check will be more than just a little bit humbling. However, if you were to accurately assess your talents and play to your strengths, then you could wind up pulling off a mini-coup and walking away with something that’s nothing to sneeze at on April 3.

Weekly horoscopes: Negative attention

We all crave attention, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, there is a difference between positive attention and negative attention, and that is something that you will want to watch out for with Venus entering the zodiac sign of Aries on March 21. Not only can Venus inspire you to make some questionable fashion purchases when she’s passing through this sign (you may want to check in with friends to make sure that your wardrobe choices are age-appropriate), but she can also lead you to overplay your hand with the men in your life. Flirting with your boyfriend’s friends, forcing the issue of promotion with your boss by talking about how rival companies are headhunting you or gossiping with a client after hours won’t get you the attention you want. If anything, it will do more harm than good. Cool it with the self-promotion and don’t push so much, and people will recognize you for who you are.
